Hi, despite all the posts here about removing the battery prior to replacing the LED LCD, I ended up swapping the LCD's on a couple of Vaio Z2 without removing the batteries and now both backlight does not work. Based on posts here, it seems to be a blown fuse, but can anyone confirm this is the case and how to find the fuse?

Unfortunately I am no multimeter nor soldering expert, but would like to find replacement fuses and resolder. Using a multimeter if it comes up as 0Ohm then it is not blown, right? If it is blown would replacing the fuse be the best option or just soldering a jumper? As for the jumper, would it just be soldering a wire across the fuse? No expert on jumpers either.

One of the Z2 is still under warranty but I'm scared that they may just want to replace the motherboard.

Please help in terms of finding the fuse, checking if it is bad, and the best way to fix it. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, will test later today with a multimeter. Would any good electronics shop have these fuses and be able to remove and replace the fuse? If not, could I just solder over the fuse to connect each side, meaning just put a layer of solder over the fuse that reaches each end of the fuse. Let me know if this should work. Thanks.

The shop will charge you a lot unless they are ur friend.
Just do as what you said above and you will be fine.

I have the same problem as well.
I have a sony vaio VPCS117GG with led backlight problem, there must be a fuse some where on the board. Does any one know where can I locate this fuse for this particular model? thanks

Sooner or later, you have to open your laptop. Why would you not open it now and take some photos on both sides around lcd connector?
