Just got a Z2 and liking it so far. One thing that annoys me is that when the screen is closed, the center portion of the screen is not entirely flush with the base of the laptop; there is a gap, and it seems like the screen is not entirely flat. I can definitely press down on the screen.

Do other people see this problem, is it fixable or should I get a replacement?

Thanks. Before I do that, I just want to make sure this isn't a common problem.

Hm, do you have a link to the post? It's hard wading through that thread and search doesn't work.

Are you talking about the gap in-between the display lid and the palmrest just above the Memory Stick/SD slots? If so, then yes mine is ever so slightly higher in the center than the sides. I don't consider it an issue. I would prefer to have a little gap that will prevent the palmrest from rubbing the display/keys caps which is a problem I've had in the past with Sony and other notebooks.

My unit also has this gap. I think its by design.

The gap above the SD slot definitely appears bigger than the gap on the left and right. I can also squeeze it and it makes a slight clicking noise (like a magnet? not sure what it's using to keep closed). Do you guys see this as well?

I received my Z2 late last week and I can confirm that I hear that slight clicking noise when I press down that area. But it does not really bother me, I think it really is like that by design... I think...

It isn't a magnet, or at least not one to keep the lid closed. It is the rubber bumpers making contact to the keyboard tray.

I haven't taken the Z2's lcd panel apart (yet), but Sony uses tiny neodymium magnets as sensors to tell when the lid is closed. If there is a magnet in the lid, it is for this purpose.

I checked all Z2 at local store here this morning and they all have small gap when the lid closed.
Actually, the body is flat but the lid not.

Yes, my Z2 also has a gap when closed, although the gap is consistent across the whole width.
