I don't get this. I've uninstalled all the crapware from Sony and manually went into Services to disable their power management (which doesn't uninstall...). But when I bring up a full screen dark picture, or just a black screen, the panel dims down. When I alt-tab to a bright screen like Office or anything it slowing goes back up bright again. Something with battery saving somewhere but horribly annoying. I want the screen to stay full brightness no matter what. Is anyone else seeing this?![]()

open Intel's graphics control panel. under Power, change "Power Source" to "On battery" and uncheck "Intel Display Power Saving Technology". also, in VAIO Control Center, check that you don't have Autoadjust Brightness functionality enabled.

Could also be the poorly placed ALS. The screen itself generates enough brightness to screw with it.

That seems to resolve the issue. Thank you.

Hello,
How do you disable Intel Display Power Saving Technology on a VAIO SONY VPCSB16FG.
My problem is similar but it’s constant (almost like a rapidly flicking dimming light weather you’re surfing the net or not and no matter what colour the page).
The auto brightness is turned off and I have followed other instructions under the control panel to disable Intel display power saving technology, but I can’t find this setting anywhere, to uncheck the box!
I’m assuming my type of computer has a different setting!
The manual doesn’t cover this as well! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
cheers,
