I have one and it's definitely not smaller: the total volume is about the same as original adapter. The extremely short cable from adapter to laptop makes this not an ideal traveling accessory (if the cable was twice the current length is would be much better yet manageable). Also, I prefer 2-wire power cable as it would make adapter smaller. Have not found anything better than this and original Z adapter though. Various Targus and Kensington universals require fitting tips, which can easily get lost and are awkward to use, especially because Z's power connector is very fragile already.

I had 14" Compaq laptop several years ago that had the smallest 72W power adapter, approximately 2/3 the volume compared to Z's. I understand that Z has a 90W adapter. Still, it's too big.

Looking at the pix it seems to be smaller >
Indeed in the reviews one of the cons is the short cable >

While its narrow, it's thicker and longer (longer by 2 inches) than original adapter.

    It's longer/thicker/with a short cable and costs 100 bucks >
So it's not as compact and portable as SONY says. > although the angle the
pix has been taken does suggests so. **
I would stick to the one it came with ++
