Hi all, long time reader first time poster. My friend has a Sony vaio Z590 and after he open the laptop up to to upgrade the hard drive and processor the Z no longer turn on. Pressing the power button does not do anything. It doesn't respond to anything. Can anyone help me find a solution for him?

Both the processor and hard drive are verified working on other laptop. Thank you for your hlep.

First rule of system administration: Only make ONE change at a time, else you will not be able to know which one is the problem.

"Your friend" needs to start from scratch:
First, assemble it with the old CPU and HD, to verify that it is working with these now. That rules out that he inadvertently has damaged the system.
Then, and only then, do one of the changes, but not both. If it works, to a running state without errors, then, and only then, make the second change. if it doesn't work, back out, verify yet again that it's working correctly with the old parts, then do the second part alone.

Once the component that's incompatible or failing has been determined, then and only then come back and ask again, telling us the specifics including model numbers.
