I just recently bought a Sony Vaio and when I tried to access the internet, it gave me the "Limited or No Connectivity" message. I'm not sure what the exact problem is right now but it won't acquire a valid IP address.

I think it may be a problem with Windows SP2. But, the thing is, I tried to uninstall it off the laptop using the add/remove programs list, but its not there. I also tried looking for it in the C:\Windows directory, but can't find the uninstall folder either. I think Sony installs Windows retail with SP2 included so you can't uninstall it. How do you fix this problem?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't think you want to remove SP2. I'd start first with updating firmware in your router and the drivers for your wireless card.

Problem Fixed. Called Sony Tech Support this morning. Seems like I had to reset sockets and get rid of third party firewalls.

Contrary to most posts, the Sony Tech Support was really helpful- I guess it all depends on which rep you get.

Also, he also gave me some advice on the trial versions of microsoft office and norton that you receive when you purchase a new computer from Sony. After trial period ends, it actually locks down your computer (including any office files you created) until you contact Microsoft and get a new license. Tech Rep said it is a bit of a hassle so best bet is just to get your own license from retail- avoid all complications.

    Really happy with new TX651P!
