W00t, Sony on top!
-
Looks like they're all pretty close though and probably within the margin of error.
I know people have bad experiences with certain brands and wont buy them again. But I think if a company was producing all lemons, they'd be out of business pretty quick.
Part of that might be that Sony's customer service sucks and they just don't fix as many laptops so people live with their problems.
I'm not bashing or supporting Sony, as I'm on my second Vaio. But most people will agree their CS is pretty bad. -
This isn't too surprising. I think a lot of the reason that Sony has such a bad reputation is because it is generally the more expensive option. Anytime anything that costs more has even 1 problem, it's always blown slightly out of proportion, as I think people expect that the more expensive product should have 0 problems, ever. If...say...Acura, manufactured a small batch of cars, all having some major mechanical flaw off the showroom floor, and it was publicized, there would be a huge deal made of it, and Acura would be given the badge of manufacturing poor quality autos. However, if Chevy did this, people wouldn't give it a second look and chalk it up to the "no one is perfect all of the time" theory. (no offense to the Chevy drivers)
Half of all of the "issues" reported by people in the forums regarding the quality of their Vaio notebook, all stem from people (myself included) putting the notebook under a microscope and expecting fit and finish to be 100% perfect. And while it really technically should be, humans are indeed capable of this, it's just not realistic. It's the state of mass production across the board for almost all manufacturers.
And from all of the stuff I read, it doesn't sound like Sony's customer support is much worse than that of most other big companies. It appears to be hit and miss.
Sony as the most reliable laptop!
