I have the Sony credit card but don't understand how earning Sony points work. Is it one point per dollar? Do I earn points no matter where I use it? Or only on the Sony store? Is there a Sony store spending conversion rate?

    Thanks!

I was a die-hard user of the Sony Card. I still have my card, but don't use it as much, because I prefer to earn points on service for my car instead.

The way it works is you earn points for anything you purchase - clothes, gas, restaurants etc. Sony products earn more points.

I don't recall what the point system is now. I think, it was 1.5 points for anything you use your card on. If you purchase a Sony product, anywhere but Sony online or a SonyStyle Store, you receive 3 points per dollar. Now, if you purchase Sony online or SonyStyle Store, you receive either 5 or 8 points per dollar. You can submit a credit at any time. The points, though, are valid for 5 years. And the points is shown as a credit to your Sony Card statement. Basically. a credit deducted from your monthly balance. This usually takes two billing cycles for Sony to apply to your account.

You apply for points by mailing a form back to Sony. Every time you submit points, you have 30, 60, or 90 days to submit a xerox copy of your receipt and copy of manufacturer packaging to show proof of purchase. When you're ready to get credit for these points, you submit the same form, but check "credit". A credit then appears on your statement.

Sony also offers a toll-free prompt to check on your points. The same toll-free # when you check on your cc balance.

1 point for 1 cent, but you may earn more than 1 point for dollar you spend depending on where you use it.

The current Capital One Sony Card is 5 points for 1 dollar spent on Sony product (any retailer), 3 points for dining & entertainment, & 1 point everywhere else. 1 point gives you 1 cent buying credit in Sony Store & Sony Reward Store, and 0.9 cent buying credit on Sony product elsewhere.
