It is good news, though it's dated 9/9/09, but good news. :)

Bingo! I think that's a true statement for the vast majority of owners. When you sit down and analyze the number of people that would actually make use of it, the number is quite small.

    More people than you think.
    - It's required to run 64-bit guest operating systems.
    - It gives a huge speed boost to running 32-bit guest operating systems.
    - It's required to run apps in XP mode in Windows 7.

So, what do you think, is it safe now to download and install this bios update from japanese site? As far as I understood, their SR-*1 model corresponds to my SR-1*.

Thank's a lot! :) I will try to upgrade my bios maybe tomorrow. But still I'm not sure if this update can be run successfully on 64-bit OS.

Then I would not attempt it! A BIOS upgrade is not something to play with. If it goes wrong, the machine can become a brick, requiring a trip back to the Sony Service Center and a repair bill.

Not from Sony, but you can do it yourself. First look at the master list (link in my signature below) to see if you BIOS version is referenced. Then, if it is, go to the first message in that thread and start reading. All the info is there to do this. Just be sure your BIOS version is the same.

I've also successfully updated bios on my SR19VRN with version downloaded from japanese site (R1130Y1)! VT works perfectly and I finally have the XP mode under Windows 7.

Again, Hamud, thank's for the experiment you've made.

So, is a bios out for the TT yet, or is it planned? If out, anyone with the TT1xx or 2xx series try this out?
