Anyone have ANY idea what the "firmware extension parser device" is? We have a driver for it and it is listed in the device manager under the heading of "Human Interface Devices". I am a human (well at least SOMETIMES) and I can't remember the lasttime I interfaced with a "firmware extentsion parser device". Now come to think of it, it does sound like it might be some sort of marital aid... :D . Nahhh, it can't be that. What the hell is this "device"?

That's another name for the Sony Notebook Control device. Together with the Programmable I/O device, they add proper ACPI support to control the various features like Fn functionality, button assignment, brightness control and power management settings on the notebook. This page has more information.

OK, that explains why this shows up in the Human Interface category. Thanks!

My Vaio FZ-90HS (bought in Japan) has another device listed in device manager. It is called Felica Port. I can't find any extra port in this machine. Can anybody tell what could this be?

Felica port enable PC to use several wireless IC prepaid cards available in Japan. Several laptops in Japan have it. It would have no use outside Japan, I am afraid.

    Good day.

I really hope you guys can help me out.
I have a new vaio G1 carbon, witch let me tell you is the BEST laptop ever had... Awsome machine.
Sadly it was only offer in japan, so I gt it with the Japanese OS, witch I latter on change to Vista Ultimate English.
I got all the drivers, and utilities working, but the sonync.dll driver, or file, whatever is called, ... The thing is that is what RUNS/DRIVES the battery power on mi machine, I read from a reply that has something to do with the power management sytem.
Anyway, my machine is suppose to have a 12h battery life! can you believe it!, but now, it only gives me 3 hours tops!!!.
I found this sonync.dll witch is108kb on the drivers SFEP folder that I downloaded from VAIO JAPAN, but it doesnt have any .EXE so I can NOT load this .dll file into my sistem!!!!!
I tryed to copied MANUALLY, since I think!? I know where it goes :
c:windows/system32/driverstore/sonysys.inf (this is the folder) ... but everytime I try to copied, it gives me a permission error!!! Dont know why since Im the administrator and only usser.

Anyway ... I tried EVRYTHING tha occured to me ... so I will REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP/COMMENTS/INSTRUCTIONS.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hope Corporation.
