Does anyone have this laptop yet and can tell me about any problems?

How do you like the performance?

Can i change out the hd for a faster one?

Does anyone sell a bigger battery or better battery for it?

    What are you observations?

I just got one last Saturday!

I love it. No issues so far.

As for Hard drive do not see why, but I see know issues with the drives performance at this time.

As for Batter, Sony uses a software and in some cases hardware base protection for swapping out batteries for a non-sony one. In some cases it will prevent booting the laptop completely or prevent charging battery and in another case people are successfully. I can not speak, however, for this laptop since I see no need to swap out battery at this time.

I actually love mine. I love the key layout, the numeric key pad. I, especially love the One Touch web access w/out full boot up. I have yet to test performance with gaming. I will reply latter when I have. The only thing I would possibly change is place the 3 USB ports on the left side. I wish laptop mfg would stop bloating the systems with stuff users most likely will not use or at least when setting up if you want to install it.

I do have a 2yr extended warranty on it. I would say overall I would give it a 8/10 (mostly because of the pre-installed crap I have to uninstall now and the usb prots). I will most likely reply more if I have any other pep-peeves with this laptop.

Well it works great up until you install the Latest VAIO updates. After it does its updates. Touchpad tends to jump around allot and the other issue is it takes almost 60secs to load the contents of a flash drive. Of course prior to the updates all works great. The mouse pointer is suppose to disappear while typing but after this update it does not and in my case causes it to jump all over and cause other issues (close, open, minimize, what ever the pointer lands on and thinks i did a dbl tap on the pad.

I have contact online chat support but they all just tell you to re-install device drivers for the device or uninstall (in this case it will re-install generic drivers) device drivers and reboot, your last option is to do a complete restore, in which case that is what I will have to do now to get my touchpad functionality back and the ability to not have to wait around for the system to read my flash drive (2GB Flash Voyager GT).

Sure hope you get your new lappy working. What a bummer to go through all that uninstalling & installing just to get some buggy drivers to foobar everything in the end!

Since the new MacBook Pro 13" is unimpressive, I think I'll maybe buy this Sony model but I would like other owner's observations first.

Hey tekeek, when you reinstalled your new Sony did it come with the Win 7 disc or do you have to order that from Sony to do a clean install?

It doesn't come with a Win7 disc, but you can download the .iso, make your own, and use the Win7 key on your laptop. Or you can use the recovery partition to get a clean install, as detailed here.
