Or... I can just download the songs for free anyways. ;)

    I'd rather a $100 discount!

Legally? If yes, I'll like to know from where. Being a bit broke currently, I sure can do with a few free legal song downloads. :)

As far as I know, it's still legal to download songs in Canada, but not to share songs. A stupid loophole, but it has served me well.

Music services like these are useless, for me it's either CDs or .flac/320 mp3 or BUST~

    That's mail in rebate.

edit not sure if I was clear or not, the Vaio FW back to school promotion is a mail-in-rebate, not instant. The Sony card is an instant promotional discount.

That's weird then. Maybe a system glitch or something.

For fun, I just configured a Vaio Z790 in my educational account & the following is what I get:

Note: That $154 program savings are already calculated in the overall price. You'll notice that each component pricing are different when you log into an educational account & regular account. Therefore, it is obvious that the $100 deduction is for that MusicPass card. Of course I am unable to really prove this. You don't expect me to check out this shopping cart, do you? :)

Did you just ordered your Vaio notebook? If yes, call up Sony first thing in the morning & get them to adjust your order or something. They should be able to cancel your existing order & place a new one under your educational account. Good luck. :)

You can probably just call them anyway and explain to them you processed the order with the wrong account, that you have a student account, and they'll probably credit your bill/credit card.

I'd gladly pay $100 extra to not get intrusive DRM installed on my system.

    An anology is in order:
What if I gave you $100 worth of FREE fuel? All you need to do is accept that I modify your car so it will analyse the fuel each time you start it, phone us up with the details, and block the fuel if it isn't from our gas stations.
Would you jump on such a "deal"?

If it was a years worth of free fuel, then yes I would. I would even drive the extra 20 miles to go to that gas station just for the free fuel.

The bottom line it is free!
