The extended battery for my SZ160 only holds about an hours charge now so I called Sony to see about ordering a new one, the price is $300 + $20 tax and $7 shipping, $327 for a battery! I didn't realize the battery would only be good for about 17 months. It almost pays to get a new PC, at least everything would be faster, I can't see spending $327 for a battery!

As noted, you should be able to get it cheaper from an online store. Also make sure you look at the battery guide so that you prolong the life your new battery.

If you're under warranty, you can get it replaced if it's really dead. My SZ140's battery died last year (completely dead) and they promptly sent me a new one without proof of death. I purchased extended warranty after that.
