Sony has been offering some nice deals lately, for anyone interested:

$300 off the Sony VAIO TZ VGN-TZ207N/B Notebook
Sony Coupon Code: VAIO300A Exp. 6/15/08

Free Custom Engraving on select notebooks

Up to $350 off Performance Upgrades when you Customize Select Sony VAIO Notebooks Exp 6/19/08

Pretty nice, if you ask me. When Sony announces and releases its upcoming notebooks, the prices will drop even more. Expect a lot more deals/coupons to come.

Great deal. This should help people that are in the market for a new Vaio TZ.

Worked for me.. my TZ just arrived today! Been debating between a TZ, R7, P1620, EEE, V5, etc for quite awhile and the recent $100 drop, free upgrades and free S&H on the CTO TZ finally persuaded me. Seems quite nice so far, and with the "Fresh Start" it seems much faster than the TZ's I played with at Best Buy and the Sony Outlet.. better spec'd and cheaper too!

    :D

Sadly I don't see any similarly good deals in Europe... :(

Sony don't do good deals in Europe, we are their profit margin cushion, i.e. we take it up the ass compared to the rest of the developed world and we arguably allow for other non-Europeans to get better deals by soaking up lower profits elsewhere. Look at Apple pricing, if price discrimination was a crime Jobs would be doing life without parole. Anyone looking to buy Sony or Apple etc living in Europe I would advise them to look at US or Asian importers. Let your wallets do the talking. With Sony just check warranty returns conditions of the importer.

For a TZ from the US I can pay the equivalent of €2000, in Ireland its possible to pay almost €4000. Screw that, at least muggers in my city rob everyone equally.

Same old story... the rest of the world gets discounts on EOL products, we still pay full retail price down under.

Yeah Europe is sometimes really screwed. And they are still always using the 1:1 euro:dollar ratio. I could probally buy an airplane ticket and a vaio laptop in America for the same price if I get the exact same laptop here in Europe. And we only have 2 colours available too.

Yeah for a good deal you need to import it from Japan or US, as many people have done.

Everything in Europe is expensive now.
