In July I purchased a Sony VAIO FZ11L from the Exeter Comet store for £799 (approximately $1600). I expected and paid for a premium product. From new it would crash when playing games, showing a Memory Parity Error.
Sony maintains that this is a software problem caused by Vista, and won't touch the machine. Comet believe that Sony's word is God. I'm stuck in the middle with a useless computer and no choice but to publish my problem on the web.
I did post about the problem here and was advised that it appeared to be a hardware error. Unfortunately, Sony disagreed! I'll keep everyone updated with the progress.

I would recommend downloading and using MemTest86...it can verify the functionality of your RAM (or lack of functionality rather).
In the meantime, tell Sony/Comet that since Vista was an OEM install on an OEM computer...they are required to support it! Not to mention you'll be calling you CC company about it. -
Hi there,
I've tried MemTest86 and Vista's own memory testing tool. Both are coming up clean.
I will try the OEM tack tomorrow!
Thanks very much,
David.
