i posted in a previous thread about wanting to get my LCD replaced on a SZ110/B I just purchased. The problem is that for light colors (white especially), the color looks grainy. I checked against a SZ220 at best buy (assumingly the same LCD), and theirs looks much better. But seeing how my LCD still works, I am not sure whether they are going to replace it.

I had been considering getting the 2year on-site service for $199, but was wondering how strict these 3rd party repair people are. Are they more or less leniant than if I sent it to Sony directly?

if you already purchased your laptop, you can't get the additional warranty, or did I miss something?
Usually the warranty is voided if it's being worked by some unauthorized 3rd party.

you have 60 days from purchase to order the extra warranty from sony. (search for warranty on sony.com and the page'll come up).

I was thinking of the 2 year on-site warranty for $199

I recently read on this forum that the on-site service/3rd party service will start after a certain time (a year?) of the warranty. So if it's true, the laptop will be sent to Sony first. But I don't really know about the leniency or strictness.

possibly for the non-on-site services it is like that, but the 2 year on-site warranties you can purchase gives you on-site service for 2 years from the date of your laptop purchase
