My girlfriend has an important requirement for a new PC-that it be pink!

Kinda sorta thinking of buying her Sony's cheapest 15.5" notebook with an i3, that E series one (I hate not getting something with a GPU, and hate i3, and I hate Intel video...would like an AMD A series at least...but I think it's okay for her, I hope).

Wanted to double check that Sony lets you make recovery discs to reinstall the OS (assuming it doesn't include them in the box), and that you can use those discs to install on a different drive. Like to stay cheap but good, I was thinking of maybe throwing in a 240GB Intel 520 drive...not as cheap as I'd like, but might be big enough. Or heck, an Intel 330's a bit cheaper...

yes, you can make recovery DVDs (or, if you want, a recovery USB stick) from within Windows, and you can use those DVDs to recover the factory image to any drive (HDD or SDD) you install in the laptop later on.

Just curious if you go the USB stick route can the remaining memory on the stick be used for storing misc files? Or does the stick have to be dedicated to recovery only which would be a waste of a 32gb stick when the recovery files take up 22gb.

You will not lose anything by doing this?
You will install the exact drivers/softwares which was also pre-installed from the factory?
Or do you also need to go to Sony's website for drivers/softwares?
Do you get a seperate Windows 8 installation CD?

no installation media is provided by SONY, only the recovery partition which should be used to make recover DVDs or a revocery USB stick. and no, you won't lose anything and once recovered, the computer will be exactly like the factory state.
