Also saw this one on Amazon's site,
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00092DUKQ/qid=/br=1-/ref=br_lf_pc_//103-4024854-1967834?v=glance&s=pc&n=3031011&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Anyone have any more details on it? From what Amazon has up so far, looks like it comes with a DVD burner. Argh, was just about to get the s360. [] Think they'll still put the ATI 9700 in it?

In most cases, ATI 9700 is better. So, S360 will still be better overall, unless you buy your S just to run work-related calculation-intensive program such as Matlab or something. And yes, they will stop producing S360, but you should still be able to find it on-line or in retail store for a couple month after S460 is out.

Which then leads me to wonder if the base price on the s360 will drop even more or if the rebates will be increased... []

Differences I've noticed so far...
s360 vs s460
Memory: DDR v DDR2
Bus: 400 v 533
HD: 4200 v 5400
Optical: DVD/CDRW v DVD writer
Gfx: Ati 9700 64mb v Geforce Go 6200 128mb (which one is better?)
USB ports: 3 v 2
Battery: 2-6 hrs v 1-3 hrs
So, which model is better and will they stop producing the s360's once the s460 is released?
Thanks

Well, 6200 only has 32 MB Video RAM. The other 96 MB of claimed Video RAM comes from the system RAM, so if you have 512 MB system ram installed. It means you can only use 416 MB for system.
6200 is a newer card with newer rendering capability, so in some situations it will performs better, but the lack of RAM is killing its performance in general. -

Can you help a newbie? I was wondering why the 9700 is better than the 6200 (since the 6200 has twice the memory and appears to be a more recent card).
I'm seriously considering the S460 now... even as I was just about to place an order for the S360. I wonder when the S460 will be available, since I'm growing impatient for a computer.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Why is the battery life of the S460 cut so short now? S360 had 2-6 hours now there estimating 1-3 hours. I thought the S Series was desinged for mobility? Anyone know why they cut battery life has been shortend?
Sony s460 coming too ?
