Why is that a spam? I'm fed up with Sony and Windows. I'm seriously seeking to move to another platform. If Sony doesn't want to support their old hardware, someone else will. This is the last Sony (not just computers) product I'll ever buy period!

Sony never posted anything about not supporting the SZ 670 N/C model for Windows 7 until today. I've ordered a Windows 7 Upgrade which arrived today. Now what the FXXK am I supposed to do with it!

    you got owned?
Anyways back to being serious. They may not support Win7 on that machine, it doesn't mean you wont be able to get it on there without any problems.

Win 7 can use almost all drivers from Vista without any problems. Only one which i would recommend trying to find a driver to is the Graphics (You can usually get this from Nvidia or ATI site).

Also you do know that most laptop companies don't support their older laptops unless they are business classed laptops. In other words, if you went cheap then obviously they wont invest as much money into supporting it as they would with something that's more expensive like a Z series laptop.

LOL If i can manage to get a computer which is like Pentium 4 and some other crap running on Win7 perfectly, you should be able too!. Keep in mind that computer didn't even have 1 Vista Driver!....

Anyways, If they are supporting the other models within the same series, you can most likely use the same software/drivers as them when they get released for Win7.

Didn't Psystar get sued the hell out of it and went bankrupt? i remember one of those similar stores got sued and pawned.

    @caudex

    Thanks for the advice!

I don't even know what or who Psystar is. I just read a post on Gizmodo about it today, and thought that could be an alternative since Sony is leaving us troopers behind...

Yes, Sony screwed me also. Bought Vaio with Vista and what a piece of crap. I read that reinstalling Vista from scratch and download latest drivers from Sony would fixit. It did not help, upgraded memory to 4GB and did not help. I hate Sony computers and Vista. I installed Ubuntu and it runs really fast.

I hate Vista and will never buy another Windoze PC or Sony laptop.

Why you talking about Vista anyways? XD LOL Vista was a incomplete OS which they put out just to make money. lol. XD windows 7 is where the REAL Successor will be at.

You should have read reviews regarding Vista before you brought it. Not really Sony's fault, Sony can't fix all of Vista's problems.

Every OS has their problems, I'm glad that Ubuntu has helped you. But in my case i would NEVER go into Linux, due to my application needs.

If I remember though, depending on which end of Sony products you on (Low end, or high end), you might have been provided with a WinXP downgrade disk.

I thought of doing that but with the drivers from the FW3xx or FW4xx because I need the drivers for the 32-bit version and the FW5xx comes only with the 64-bit version of 7.

I didn't even know there is a model check. I'll keep that in mind when I try it out. And I plan on using Sony's instructions for installing the drivers and if all else fails, use the Vista drivers.

Someone got the FW to work perfectly fine with Windows 7 Beta and Vista drivers only ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=355715) so it's definitely possible, unlike Sony's claims so you could try it out with your FZ as well.

You can use FW-290 drivers for 32-bit Win 7. I am running Win 7 RC with no problems and will install Win 7 Pro 64-bit in a few days.

The reason Sony exist today is because of their diversity of the electronics market. I have no idea how Sony fairs in other countries but situations like have been mentioned here will in many ways affect Sony in the US market. For a long time Sony had the market cornered with their laptops because of the features that were available on their laptops such as Blue-Ray burner and player, the amount of hard drive space and so on. Many companies seen this and have made adjustments to be in the same arena with Sony.

Back in the day my first PC was a Micron I then bought a Gateway, those were the most popular computers on the market. Dell was out there but the price was a bit more. Gateway had the biggest bang for the buck and the most features for the money. Some how Gateway is suffering with survival and with limited to no support they are doomed. Micron computer has long been gone and Dell is the largest supplier of computers in my area. If Sony thinks these kind of business tactics will not affect them, then they are sadly mistaken. If I were the soles responsible for Sony's public image in the laptop arena I would stop the bleeding of poor support.

When I say I will not buy another Sony product I mean what I say, there are a lot of companies out there who would love to have my business. If the consumers sticks by their decisions and stops buying from a company then they will either dissappear or fix their problems. Sales is the only way to may large corporations realize that they are doing something wrong. When things are going well they forget the people who put them there.

If some one has a way to forward this whole thread to Sony and get it in the right hands, please do it. I think someone within the Sony corporation that would like to see this could make a difference. Please keep us posted.
