This has a T2500 2ghz processor, with 2gig ram and a Gefrce go 7400 with up to 128 mb graphics. I need an ultra-portable to move around as doing stop motion animation and although that requires relatively little memory the editing of the footage seems to rrequire a bit more. I am running pinnacle studio 10 and want to know if this laptop will be ok for this type of use. Other programs are ms office, web site building (basic) and net usage. No games.
    Any comments?

    Thanks

Absolutely. I'm running the exact same specs on my SZ2 and it can do NLE very very well. I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas though but any other NLE should run just as well. Some will run better because they are optimized towards dual core. But in general, the SZ2 with that specs is a great video editing machine. Premiere Pro has a slight advantage because it also uses the GPU (NV7400Go) to get a slight boost. I even do HDV editing with it and it works beautifully and responsive. Much much better than my old desktop rig which used a P4 3GHz HT and 1GB Ram.

A note though, you may run into some probs if you edit uncompressed vids because the hdd of the SZ2 pushes some 30MB/s. That is the only thing a little on the slow side for NLE usage. But for DV, MPEG2 or MPEG4 it will do very well.

Thanks Private-Cowboy for your response. That really has encouraged me, and I now have ready for delivery one shiny new sz2. Yeeha! However, i may require your help again if I get a little stuck with some of the settings. By the way, did you upgrade your memory from 1gb 533mhz sdram to the 2gb 667mhz or are you still running the orignal memory?
