Hi everyone, I have a Sony Vaio SZ330p laptop that has a loud fan constantly on 24/7 and it would not slow down. I also have a Sony Vaio FE550g and it runs really quiet compared to my SZ. I heard that you can use the Sony power management software, but I don't have it. Will it work? Does anybody know where I can get the program. I have checked the manufacturer website and they don't have it. Please let me know. Also I was thinking can you buy a little fan speed control switch and install it to the fan wire? Thanks will appreciate any help.

Start > Program Files > Vaio Power Management

if its not there, go into c drive and look under program files and sony and you should able to see a folder something similar to vaio power management...

did you burn the sony recovery dvd? Its on the dvd, pop it in and you should be able to install from a list.

Actually I don't have the recovery disc. I have a clean install of windows. I am looking for the program itself to download off the internet, but have not found any.

    ahhhh not a good idea

you need the recovery dvd because that has all the software, and you can not download online because sony only has drivers for their laptop. you can order one from sonystyle.

Yea I know. When I bought the laptop used it came w/o the OS. I had to install my own. I might have accidentally erased the partition that contains the driver. I didn't know what it was. So does anybody have the Vaio power management program and can post it up for me to download? Please let me know

Having the same problem with the Vaio PCG-FRV37. Will the drivers and utilities on this FTP site re-install the power management utility? Which order do I install the FR1-4 downloads? Thanks, Oskie

Hi there, I have SONY VGN-S460 laptop. I will tell you what has happened already for 2 years, since I have it.

    1. Fan is extremely LOUD for 1.5 years.
    2. Black spot on the screen for 1 year already.
When I was choosing from the many Laptops in 2005, I bought this SONY, since I thought "that is a good quality, it's a sony, made in Japan"

Guess what, This sony was x2-3, the price of any other laptop, since it was sony. However it did not have any extra features, than the other laptops.

In reality, I would recommend buying any other laptop....why
    1. Less price X2-3
    2. Better service
    3. The fan is not on and LOUD all the time
    4. Nobody will come to and ask you:"Is this your Harley so LOUD, or your very expensive SONY laptop
    5. You would not disturb anybody with your EXTREMELY LOUD Sony

If you want to repair it they ask for half of the original price...which is actually the price of any other laptop!!!!!!!

    SONY means dead end!
