Hi guys
Ok so here's the problem I have a Sony VAIO VPCEB4L1E (yes I know it's an old laptop) and it's failing constantly or it boots up and it freezes after a while or it just stays on and I can actually use it or it doesn't even start at all where it looks like it's booting as I hear the DVD drive spinning up but no screen and no lights, then the fan starts spinning really lound and the computer shuts down! This laptop just sucks because if I have to send it back to sony then it will be the 20th time! They even fixed it 2 times out of warranty because it broke so much![]()
I had problems with the hard drive, motherboard and now it's doing this to me... I think it might be a fan this time as I opened up speedfan and i saw thisit says FAN2: 0RPM can this be the problem? Do you think sony will replace it again or give me my money back?
thanks,
nnvt

But your vaio only has 1 fan and it says 3300RPM, your temperatures look normal....

Could you think of another thing that might be causing the constant failures? could it be the battery?

Install openhardwaremonitor and start the graph to display temperatures of the CPU, etc. Now run a stress utility and see how high the temperatures go before the system crashes. You can also see the temperatures in speedfan - just go to the charts tab and tick the available boxes.
It is likely that the fan is clogged with dust, and/or the thermal paste between the CPU and the heatsink has dried up. Open, clean, replace paste. See if you can find a guide for your model. I did this for my VPCZ1 and was amazed at the difference it made.
Sony vaio constant failures! fan problem?
