    Hi,

Am i correct in thinking that the current sony vaio fw with the 1920x1080 screen only offers two other very low resolutions. Ive heard that the text on webpages can be hard to read because of the high native resolution, i think i have perfect eye sight so is it a big problem for other users? is there anyway to switch it to 1600x900 for web browsing and 1920x1080 for film viewing?

    Thanks

No. TFT/LCD screens use a fixed matrix of crystal segments (pixels), and thus the native resolution is fixed.

You can use software to magnify, zoom in, make things full screen and stuff, of course, but it wont necessarily use the native resolution.
