Wow! So many soon-to-be TZ owners!
Welcome to the club, you'll love this machine I guarantee you! -
Weehaa I love this lounge
. Just made my order and transfered my money to Pricejapan.
I like the fact that they have a german bankaccount, I can transfer money for free inside EU. Besides that, they were very quick replying to my emails.
My config:
Black, Core 2 Duo U7600 1.20 GHz, 1GB memory, 160G HDD, 32GB SSD, 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN, English keyboard, standard battery(VGP-BPL11), NO finger-print sensor, NO security chip, NO DVD, including Wall mount plug adapter .
Price on Sony website in Yen: 251,800
Order date: 7 th of august
Expected delivery: 28-31/8
Including shipping and commission: 1767 euros
For the same price in Netherlands I could buy a TZ11 with 1,06 Ghz, 80 GB 4200RPM HDD, NO SDD.
Now the only question is: Do I let them undervalue the package?
The good side: I will save some of the 19% salestax
The bad side: The insured amount goes down the same!
I feel like I'm playing roulette. What do you guys think? -
I love these guys at Pricejapan. I ordered 5 hours ago, I transfered the money to their german account 4 hours ago (urgent transfer). I just got their email saying they received the money and placed the order.

Ordered from: PriceJapan
Date ordered: July 20th
Location where you reside: Brunswick, Germany
When to expect: August 6
Arrived: August 7 - TODAY !!!
1 day delay thanks to DHL who left my package at customs (AFTER clearance) for full 24 hours... but DHL Package Tracking is cool. -
Ordered from: Conics
Date they placed the order: July 22, 2007
Location where you reside: Chicago, IL USA
When to expect: August 7-11 is what Brett told me to expect a delivery.
In reply to my email, he mentioned Sony shipped my laptop to his company location yesterday, so I think it will take another 3 days for it to reach US.
But, I am not too worried about it... I just want it to come safe to me without any damage. -
To save the maximum of money, I ordered the TZ from Sony Style Japan via the japanese girlfriend, who lives in Japan, of one of my colleagues. The disadvantage of this cheap solution is that I must await her arrival in Paris at the beginning of September. Indeed, I don't want that she ships it to me from Japan. Not really to avoid me paying the delivery but rather to avoid paying the VAT (19.6% in France). I know that I could undervalue the package but I wouldn't have to undervalue of more than half of its price. In this case, I should have paid approximately 200 euros - $275 USD and take a little risk. So, to avoid this, I prefer to stay a long moment in this waiting lounge
.

Instead of having a figure 8 power cord coming from the power brick to the wall, you use the wall mount plug adapter and plug the power brick "directly" into a power socket.
-
its always the cheapest to order directly from sony japan, and that is a fantastic price. before you meet her and get your TZ, you better treat her like a queen and give whatever she wants, or your lappy will be at risk! -

So maybe it's good to consider that.
Edit: I forgot that your friend is from Japan so it may be different. Still it might be a good idea to take the laptop out of the box, so that it does not look completly new. -
In Australia, if you are only visiting and can "reasonably" prove that you intend to take the laptop back with you, you do not pay any duties.
-

Just recieved my TZ90 from PriceJapan, it should have arrived yesterday but DHL didnt wanna leave it outside my door, so I got it today.
The best thing is that it passed through customs without any problems. VAT= 25% and the customsfees are 3%, and I didnt have to pay any -

But seriously, custom checks are a relatively rare occurence, considering how many people flow through Schiphol, what is it 20 million? -
Can someone tell me what the 1-seg antenna is for? Is that the broadband modem antenna?
Has anyone thought about upgrading a Japanese model with a U.S. Sprint modem? I would like to have portability, storage and 3G all at once.
I know, probably not possible. -

Well last 4 times I came from Bangkok I got checked twice. I got checked once coming from US. I had to prove that my old laptop was not bought in US.
On certain flights (Tokio, Bangkok, Singapore, US) they have a tendency to pick out young people and check for electronics and fake branded goods.
They pick out different people from flights of Suriname and Colombia for 'internal' investigation. -

I am going to assume that the tuner would be installed in a very similar manner to the Sprint device in the TZ, considering they would have designed an area that would suit both devices. Based on that, it would indeed be possible to "upgrade" your Japanese spec. TZ. It would not, however, be an easy thing to do, and will probably cost a lot if you have to buy the parts from Sony USA. -
never mind. still waiting for mine.

Nanaki said: ↑The Oneseg option is basically a way to receive a TV signal on the go in Japan. I've read that you don't get that good a signal when you're travelling over 20 km/h, so I didn't bother getting it.

I guess Sony went a bit crazy before their holidays. I hear some others received their's too.
I hope that doesn't mean that there may be some assembly/installation errors.
