Personally, i'd go for what you're looking for in a laptop PC. Both will have Sandy Bridge. Both have 1366x768 res, but only the SB has swappable graphics. Now if i weren't such a kid who loves to play games, i'd go for the x220 any day of the week because of thinkpad reliability. So I think it's up to you and what you're looking for in a laptop. As for warranties, go get a SquareTrade ones, those are sometimes cheaper and you can't beat their service since their entire business is warranties whereas Sony's business is to sell to the consumer and maintain a few shops around where they fix broken stuff (and some companies don't even manage their own repair shops)

but to answer your question, apparently Sony USA has a bad rep, however there are those who have managed to get a good experience with Sony here in America, but then again there are a lot of people saying the contrary. I guess it'll just depend on your luck that day?

    Depends on the country/continent!

Sony USA has very bad reputation. Sony Europe and Asia seems to be fine.

I'll also recommend to go with a SquareTrade warranty. Good luck. :)
