    Sony warranty in UK: 1 year or 2 years?

    I am thinking of buying a SE from Sony UK's online shop as they have free 8 GB RAM and +40 pounds for 6630M. The whole model would be 754 GBP, what I think is a really nice deal!

    My problem however is that nowhere on the whole Sony UK site I found that the warranty is 1 year or 2 years long? If I would buy it from Germany for example, I would get 2 years. Just like in many other countries in the EU. I believe it's an EU regulation.

    But then why is the UK warranty 1 year? Is it legal that they only offer 1 year? Or do I just have to phone them and ask to give me the full 2 year?

    How does it work? Or should I just order from a German shop?

    When I went to cofigure a UK vaio a month ago it says 2 year, not sure now, for +£60 you cna get an i7 2.8GHZ, also order the extended sheet battery as if you buy later will cost you £160

    In UK you have sales of goods act so your covered for up to 6 years, but your buying direct from manufacturer not a retailer so not sure they would accept that

    You've got 2 years of seller warranty in the EU, including the UK. Sellers just don't like advertising it.

    BUT - that warranty means that the first six months the seller will have to prove the fault was not present at purchase (which is almost impossible for the seller), after that YOU will have to prove the fault was present at purchase (which is almost impossible for you too). But still you shouldn't worry about that. Sony UK seems quite good, and when I had to have my Z1 repaired they were very nice and considerate. And if they don't listen you should just send an email to the address listed on your repair forms (Koji Mizuno), and they will always sort things out for you with excellent follow-up.

    In fact, the Sony online store is just the same in all of Europe, and they operate from within Belgium :) Should they really not want to listen, I can always hop on the bus for you and go give them a good punch in the face :p
