Interesting how he says "megan hertz" instead of megahertz

from way back in 2004! http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/sony-vaio-x505-series/1995-3121_7-30886049.html

So sleek, collector item. Anyone gunning for one?
-
It sure is a collector's item! I got two of those the US version X505ZP and the JP version X505SP model (also got the specially made attache case for it released in limited quantities in Japan). It works just great, especially with a new SSD in it!
People still get amazed when they see how thin this notebook is! Check out the developer's story on this baby (sorry I have to fix the pics there at some point). -
This looks amazing!

I think its "funny" that the fron of the laptop with the keyboard is actually thinner than the screen. It just seems odd.
But then, if its possible...
(Picture above in this thread) -
Why all the space wasted between the screen and the keyboard? Surely they could have moved up the keyboard and have a touchpad below.
Either way, this is indeed a collector's item and came way before the Macbook Air fiasco. It also has the so-called "Macbook"-style keyboard, which of course we all know is Sony's design.
Surely Sony can design a successor to this laptop (The TZ doesn't count)

I had one and it was an awesome machine. Sony could re-release the X505 with a modern CPU/chipset and sell a boat load.
-
Now if the masses want an ultraportable, they'll be rushing for the netbooks. -
-
I didn't get a eeePC but went a 4yr old x505 even though the eeepc is so much cheaper, newer, faster and more features.
The eeePC just look too much like a toy and worst thing it's made in china!
Only japan notebooks(and cars) can be trusted, imo. -
I have an X505. Anyone want to buy one (in the UK)? It's hardly been used, I have one because I'm a Sony dealer.
The UK version came with all the accessories included in the price, including the special case. -
At least the Z has some very interesting specs in the contrary of the TZ that offers nothing else than portability and battery life. Now you can a MSI Wind for 1/4 of the money that Sony asks for the TZ and have quite similar specs. Always in my opinion. -

I'd buy a modern X505. I remember considering the U70 vs. the X505, and I got the U70.
Other than the original TR series (loved 'em), I've never really liked the T series. The G series to me is the "big brother" of the X505. I mean, the G is crazy light for its size, and the X505 was better.
I'm still pulling for Sony to do a cool ultraportable other than the T or U series in the fall. -
For all the X505 addicts, I took a lot of picture of two X505 that I owned
You can find them here :

I would love to get my hand on one of these, but unfortunately they're very impractical. You can probably get some light work on them but nothing too graphical intensive (not even HD videos)
-
and the lack of internal wifi card ruins its beauty when you're using wifi with a pcmcia card (excep the specific vaio one that's even harder to find). -
Still selling this? LOL -
Is this an old model or a new one then, because it has "the hinge" that is going to appear on all VAIO's before long on it, it would be intresting to see if thats where Sony got their inspiration from.
The very top picture looks new though...
:S -
Its an old model which was limited.
-
Before long?
Inspiration from what?
Pictures can always be new, but the things on the picture can be old
