While this has been a problem in the past, tonight I noticed a screw on the floor, upon turning over my laptop i notice 6 screws missing from the bottom of the laptop, After careful searching I managed to find 1 more in a my notebook bag. these screws seem to continuously fall out, I tighten them once a month or so (Which I REALLY) shouldnt have to if sony had built this notebook properly, I tightened the screws just two weeks ago and 6 fell out, while the remaining ones were all lose and on the verge of falling out, This problem started happening within about 6 months of buying it. I guess ill just have to put up with it along with the faulty DC Jack that I spent 150$ getting fixed and still dosent work right, The broken CD/DVD drive, The faulty touchpad and wireless, The loose Ethernet jack, and the flaking paint on the media buttons, Oh and the 4 odd dull patches on my screen that are slightly darker than the rest of the screen. Good Job Sony.

Well, we did have a big problem in our department with several Sony laptops falling apart each year and it was not just FE's but SZ models as well.
-
Apoxy? that would hold the screws down, but you would never open the computer again...
Start saving for a new one... your going to need it... your going to loass the rest of the screws eventually. -
Ick....I'm having an insane number of problems with my VAIO as well, but its more the internal components are dying one by one....motherboard, screen/backlight, LCD inverter, DVD drive, connections to the webcam, the PCMCIA slot, etc...Sony is going down the tubes with their lower end models.

I have had my SZ since July 2006' with no problems. I had three previous Sony notebooks and two of them eventually had loose hinges. I have had an IBM T60 for about four years now and it is still in perfect shape. Sony is expensive and they have the best looking laptops with carbon fiber and aluminum but that doesn't mean they are the best built. I wouldn't say the build is horrid. I also like the IBM X60 but it doesn't have the DVD player built in which makes the SZ the best package as I see it. -
Im waiting for Santa Rosa, Then changing over to Asus, At least they have a 2 yr warranty as standard.

Yes, I will likely do the same (I wanted to avoid Sony altogether, but my dad said no, Sony is good
) As soon as I get some money, its Asus all the way for me.
Sony's horrid build quality
