Ok, i just got my 3rd today, and guess what?!
IT IS BROKEN!!! Disc drive is non operational, and on top of that, the 'black' of the screen is about the color of my light grey/silver pants.

Best Buy is sending me a new one next day (so it will be here wednesday). This is Sony's last chance, and they will be getting a written complaint about quality control. Maybe i'm just unlucky, but jeeze, this is ridiculous.

You should buy a higher end Vaio. I was a former owner of a CR series, and it was really crappy. It was all plasticy and the keyboard would flex. The higher end Vaio's are made of higher end materials. "metals" and carbon fiber.

Metals and CF don't matter when it's hardware issues tho :D

I'd say thats some odds you got there! Maybe this next one is mechanically sound. If it's not give us some info on the model, like the build dates and such so prospective customers might could stay away from that lot.

    Batch: J083036

I just opened this one, my replacement. And in comparison to the others, this one feels a bit more solid and the plastic feels a but different. Also to note the spacing of the topcase around the keys is also slightly different too, as well as a slightly noisier drive than my first two (the third had a really loud broken drive). The screen has a slight blue tint (so i'll e editing that in nvidia control panel) but is actually has a little better black than my second and third, but not as good as the first BUT also is a little grainy (think dell m1330 screen but not as bad).

That being said i'm saying all this before i have gotten into windows, so we'll see if this one actually works 100% :D
