I tried both Mozilla and IE but sony's website can't seem to detect my model number. The sticker on the bottom of the laptop say it's PCG-8Z2L but according to the sony support site there is no model PCG-8Z2L.

Try to find the AR6xx number somewhere around your LCD screen and then put it in.

Hi Suzaku, my name is John E52T from Sony.
From the look of the DXDIAG info the model information is missing. This is why the site cannot detect your model. This is also why you are unable to install the drivers.

Has this computer had service previously, if so do you know if the motherboard was replaced? Typically that is the only time i see this type of issue.

To verify this you can go into the BIOS by pressing F2 after you power on the computer. Typically you can press F2 at the VAIO splash screen several times and it will get into the BIOS. From the Main Menu in the BIOS you will see the model information. Can you reply back with this information to get a better understanding of why you cannot install the updates. Thanks.
