    nope, you would still need a battery so there goes the cc thickness.

    Like with OLED, whenever I see "organic" I hear "rancid". That's the risk you run with organic based tech. They may not last as long as synthetic stuff.

    Damn incredible! I think Panasonic is also doing something like this. It is just incredible how technology has gotten this far. I bet this is power efficiency. If they do put this in laptop and stuff I think the thickness would still be the same because you don't want the lcd to bend all over the place.

    Pioneer has been using this technology for years in their car radio displays, they are planning to shut down their plasma facilities within the next few years and switch to OEL display flat panel sets instead, should be interesting to see

    @mikeymike:

    Damn nice pictures. That million : 1 ratio would make the screen incredibly bright. Imagine how light those LCDs are going to be. I could see in the future like portable pcs instead of laptops.

    Its said that looking at this screen is as close as to what the human eye actually sees. Its like looking out a window.

    Sony will never abandon the screen market. Even thou they merged with Samsung a few yrs ago to form S-LCD Sony will always be in the forefront of technology and innovation in the monitor market
    Sony even has its own Sony University to entice and mold new engineers

    yeha, Sony (CRT) only makes pro monitors for television production, digital cinematography, telecine, high-end post production, live production and the creation of digital intermediates from film.

    Sony only had plasma screens for a very short time, like about 2yrs. As soon as the mass public got word of negative effects of the phosphor burn-in Sony dropped plasma real fast from their catalogue like a cheap suit
