Yep, it means that at the moment you can't order the Z11. Probably in the process of getting the Z12 up as ahsan mentioned. But it's done this before. In the few weeks after I originally ordered my Z11, I would configure Zs on SonyStyle to see if prices had changed. I noticed that the ship date was now saying Unknown. This turned out to be a bad thing for me, because it meant at the time they had run out of the specific chassis (or so they tried to tell me) and my order ultimately had to be canceled and re-placed (many weeks later).

You could possibly see ship dates return to SonyStyle for the Z11 before the Z12 comes out, so keep checking. But the Z12 is coming soon...

What is the advantage over the z11 that the z12 has?

None that anyone can tell, except that it's more expensive (which isn't an advantage I guess, just a difference). It's basically the Z11 with higher standard specs. Nothing you couldn't CTO for the Z11 and pay the same amount. There will also probably be a new color called granite. Others confirmed that the SSD manufacturer and model is exactly the same.

By the way, I just went to SonyStyle USA and CTO'd a Z11 and I got a ship date of 6/25/10. It didn't say Unknown. Are you still getting an "Unknown" ship date?

When the Z12 releases, I hope the price on the Z11 drops dramatically because I'd just CTO the Z11.

Nice idea, but I bet Sony is going to make that hard to do. When the Z12 hits, I'm sure the Z11 will disappear as a CTO product. Because the Z12 is going to be using all of the same parts, I would imagine CTO will only be available for the Z12. You might be able to find some deals in the Sony outlet though, or through other vendors trying to get rid of their Z11s to make room for new Z12s. The Microsoft store had some crazy deal on Z11s a few weeks ago -- something like $1200 or $1300 for a Z11 with i5-520m and 128GB SSD. You might be able to catch a few more like that...

The 1920x1080 screen that is available as a CTO is a difference. Before, it was only available in the signature line which was only available in very limited quantities.

All right all right...forgot about the full HD screen CTO option and the Adobe stuff. But I mentioned granite lid. My point was that the hardware is not signficantly different. The processor options, SSD, and GPU all appear to be identical.

    Microsoft Store Home

The link to the dead deal looks like it just redirects to the Microsoft store home page.
