Hi. My Mat$hita UJ-832D DVD burner has given out, and I wanted to purchase a replacement, but am having a hard time finding one online for my Sony Vaio TX750p/b notebook. Does anyone out there know of a good source that carries a replacement burner (any brand) that will fit my notebook? Thanks!

Ebay is usually one of the first places I search for something, but for some reason it slipped my mind. Duh. Thanks very much for the suggestions and the links! :)

Hi. Can I ask if you could tell me how to disassemble the Vaio TX-750? I've removed all the screws from the bottom with the arrows pointing toward them, but I can't separate the upper from the lower parts. There still seems to be resistance at certain points along the edge where the two join, such as the mid front and the area around the screen hinges. I want to be sure that I can get it apart before I order a new burner. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have 19 screws I know I have to remove to open up my laptop and I ran into resistance sometimes. Try to slightly pry open the back cover starting from the oppposite side of where the hinges are located. I assume you removed the RAM upgrade backcover from the laptop backcover. There are screws under that hold down the backcover also marked with an arrow. As you easily pull on the backcover starting from the front side grab the screwdriver and loosen all screws in that area. Sometimes they get into an awkward position and they'll hold down the cover. Don't forget to disconnect the Battery and AC and loose all ESD from yourself before any disassembly.

Hi. I removed the extra ram chip, but didn't see any screws under it, just what looks like part of the motherboard. So far I have removed 8 screws from around the bottom of the notebook, but don't see anymore that are exposed. I've now been able to separate the top and bottom shells all around the edges, but there seems to be something holding the two parts together somewhere in the middle, perhaps a hidden screw or something. I'm wondering if there's another screw somewhere under one of the keys on the keypad, but am not sure if I can just pull up on the keys to remove them without causing damage. Thanks.

It's a totally different disassembly method than my VAIO. Not as easy but that's a good find NoTech.

I was a little surprised when I saw it as the model # is much different from mine, but everything else externally and internally looks to be exactly the same as my TX750pb.

Well, I went ahead and ordered a Panasonic UJ-862FX drive on Ebay. The pics show that this drive comes in an enclosure. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I can install it with the enclosure intact, or should I remove the drive from the enclosure first, as my original drive was installed this way. Thanks!

DVD drive in TX series does not have cover.
You have to remove it before put it in TX.

Yeah, that's what I thought, as my original drive doesn't have the cover. I was curious if it could be installed with it and if there was any advantage to doing so (I think probably not). Thanks for the reply! :)
