Hi. Being a newbie here, some patience would be appreciated while I get used to the environment ^^

Anyway, I bought a Z2 VAIO a while back, and curiously my Z26 didn't come with the VAIO spec sticker on the palm rest. Now, I know that you would be going 'why would you want that?' (since I read that people usually take those off because they look horrendous), but would it indicate something iffy with my Z26? I bought this from a Sony Style store.

I noticed that some Z2 come with the stickers, and some do not (ie, some other large retailers who sell this, their Z2 and CS16 display models don't have the stickers on them while the other VAIOs like the AW and FW do).

Would somebody be able to clear this up? My question is... Is it normal for my Z26 to have NOT come with a spec sticker on the palm rest?

Cheers in advance, and if this post is in the wrong area, my apologies......

    ^_^

My SZ didn't have a spec sticker either.

I think it is something else.

You bought a high end product - I even hav the premium SZ - they are aimed at people who will spend a lot of money for whatever reason - and these people normally don't want the sticker. Quite a few will be business people.

You'll find the stickers on the "general consumer" range.

I don't know which region did you get your Z26, but I believe in one of the Asian product unveiling events earlier this year this exact question was brought up and Sony answered that the earlier batch had it and then Sony decided to take it off in the later production as it was deemed of no real value to put the stickers on.

Now if only they could stop gluing on the Vista and Centrino stickers, because the glue on them is so strong that you risk harming the surface on the computer when removing them.
Again, they don't add any value whatsoever, especially not on a model you get delivered on the door. You already know what you bought, and if you didn't and can't find out otherwise, you're so thick that a sticker won't help either.

I have a cleaner called Orange-glo that worked well to remove the Vista and Centrino glue. I believe any Orange-extract-based cleaner would work and will not harm the surface.

    Hi,
Whew... At least I know I didn't get a lemon.

And yes, it would make sense that Sony would be sticking on maximum advertising on the mainstream (cheaper) lappies than on the more expensive ones. I guess they semi gave in to public demand to get the stickers off...

That would also indicate I got the most recent version of a Z2 ^^. Though they have the T9xxx CPUs on sale as the Z3 series these days.
And I bought it in New Zealand, which I guess will have the same models as Australia

Though I am curious if you know where I could read this article from which Sony said this...

    Again, cheers in advance ^^

Well, I once knew where you can read this article, but I no longer know... :)
