    I'm into buying a new laptop. I ve searched the whole web and I m confused. I definetely need a 13,3" display and ultra light . I think I like fiber carbon casing (is this model fiber carbon?)..
    I cannot understand the differences between vaio models.
    I definetely and primarily would like to have good battery life (up than 4 or five hrs would be ideal) - dont want it for heavy designing programs or heavy gaming but I do have some expectations.
    I dont want to give all my money but less than 1300-1400 euros its ok.
    Please tell me your true opinion about Sony VAIO SZ240P07
    (Notebook(1.83GHz Core Duo T2400, 512MB DDR2, 80GB, DVD±RW DL, 13.3" TFT, Windows XP Pro - MPN: VGNSZ240P07)) specifically. 1,83 ghz it s ok for me. But what about the rest of the “hidden” specs? ;p
    Is it worthy? Is there any major flaw I should know? :confused:
    Can u tell me the "cons" of this model? PLEASE. I m going weird with all this search. Why this model is one of the cheapest SZ models? IS IT WORTHY? ANY CONS?
    Tenk u. But very much. :confused:
    I will give you one of my ultra cute newborn Siamese kittens if u help me (or something)

    If you are on a budget skip the carbon fiber. It adds alot of cost.

    I just bought a SZ220, which is sort of similar in specs to the one you mentioned (same processor) except mine has:

    XP home
    120GB
    1GB ram

    I'm very happy so far running XP with this machine. If you got the one you mentioned, upgrading to 1GB of ram might be a good idea.

    FYI, I think the older SZs can be upgraded to Core 2 Duo processors easily if you want to do that down the road. I think the SZ2xx machines are a really good value right now.

    Some of the main differences between the SZ lines are:

    Processor
    carbon fiber or not
    RAM
    HDD (most have 120 I think)
    Cingular WWAN card or not
    XP Pro, Home or Vista

    Also:

    SZ2xx = Core Duo with XP
    SZ3xx = Core 2 Duo with XP
    SZ4xx = Core 2 Duo with Vista

    I don't think you'll get 4-5 hours on the standard battery even in Stamina mode, but I could be wrong. I've only had mine for 2 days, and it looks like I'm getting a little over 3 with Stamina, wireless enabled, bluetooth off, and medium LCD brightness

    Cons on that model appear to be
    -less RAM than most SZs (easy to fix)
    -less disk than most SZs, but probably enough
    -Core Duo instead of Core 2 Duo (personally the T2400 seems like plenty to run XP)
    -probably doens't have the Cingular WWAN thing if you care about that.
