Sprint posts Q3 net loss of $326 million, sees 1.3 million subs leave

One of the main reasons I didn't buy either the Z or the TT series this time around (my laptop was up for update) was Sony's fixation with Sprint when it comes to WWAN. I hope Sprint's sad financial performance will force Sony to reconsider and give us a more open WWAN platform.

Is this thing default in my Z? How can I talk it out?

 

As far as I know all the Z's are stuck with Spring for internal WWAN. Even the CTO's don't let you remove the WWAN altogether so you are stuck paying for it even though you might never use it.

To my knowledge the only Z without the Sprint WWAN is the VGN-Z540EBB.

I am not trying to bash Sony because I honestly think that the Z and TT are two of the most innovative laptops I've seen. It is just disappointing when companies force business partnerships on us, especially when Sprint is clearly going down the tubes ...

 

Win! Canada's Z555 doesn't have WWAN either.

 

Mark my words, Sprint will be back. They are trying to turn around a company in an already bad economic time. I think that their head start with Wimax and their jump from dead last to #1 in customer service is showing that they are on the right track.

In a good economy it still isn't easy for a company to turn around and with what we are going through now i'm sure it's not making it any easier.

Even so, if you don't like the Sprint WWAN; buy a Verizon express card for their network.

 

I LOVE SPRINT. My SERO plan is GOLD. I dont mind signing a 10 year contract with them.

But cant I just take out whatever is in there while I change my HD this weekend?

 

Unfortunately, no. While the WWAN card usually is in the same general area as the notebooks wireless card as they are typically designed to use the same antennas built into the notebook or ones placed close together, the WWAN card is more know for being soldered onto the motherboard where as the wireless card is more known to be clipped in with only the antenna wires soldered to the card.

Sprint will be back, and I am never leaving Sprint.
2 lines, 700 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends (night starts at 7pm), unlimited text, 3g internet, mms, gps, live tv, radio, tethering.. all for $60 a month!!
while you guys with the other companies pay like 2 times that amount for the same services..

 

Sprint is by far the cheapest for the features. I am on the SERO Plan at 500 min - unlimited texts - unlimited data (internet) - all for $30 after Corp discount

 

I am going to fix up my Z with 64 bit now and put PDANet on it so I can surf unlimited using my SERO.

Some people are selling SERO and make alot of money out of it. Not me.
