My Vaio TZ150 squeaks. There is an area on the top-right part of the keyboard, to the right of the delete and backspace keys, that squeaks when light pressure is applied to it. Even when I open and close the lid, this area squeaks. When I move the notebook, it squeaks. It's not the hinge, but this area on the keyboard that makes the squeaky noise.

Does anyone else have this problem on their Vaio TZ? Is there a way to fix it? Any information and comments are appreciated.

When I read the thread I said to my self that can't be a big deal...But after seeing the video, I changed my mind! Is pretty annoying. If I was you I would go to Sony and do something...We are not speaking about Asus EEE here, the TZ is a laptop that cost more than 2k.
I can't really think how to fix this, because is not only the lid that you could put some oil or whatever but here is happening quite everywhere...

Same reaction as Jack. The video made me laugh but I wouldn't be if it were my TZ. Don't have this issue no matter how hard I press on that area of the keyboard.

I had 2 TX's that squeaked like this, except in the front which was worse since it would happen when you put your palms on it to type. It sounded as if there was rubbing between the upper and lower casings. I took them all apart, and lightly oiled all the joints, but that did not cure the squeak.

I have 2 TZ's right now, and neither of them squeak, so go figure.

Well, you do have the second generation TZ2XX model vs TX1XX Gazelle, I and many others here have.

Yes, I do notice when I close the lid slowly, I notice a squeaking sound coming from the right hinge. Of course, the room has to be dead silent for me to hear it, so I never really hear it.

Okay, so 4 out of 5 other people are not experiencing this squeaking problem. I'm guessing this is not a design flaw, but rather me being very unlucky and buying a defective TZ. :(

Hey, all you have is the squeaking noise, yours doesn't heavily scratch your discs when the laptop is slightly tilted unlike yours and your memory stick can go in the card slot with the converter unlike yours.

I sort of glanced over your thread regarding the memory stick, but I don't recall anyones solutions posted. Anyway, when I took mine apart the other day, I had my memory stick in the slot, and thus could not remove the top until I took the stick out. Hence, perhaps part of the upper casing is preventing full insertion? Just a thought.

I didn't have also this squeaking noise in my prevoius TZ190. I don't think is a question of first or second generation of TZ, it seems like a defective model as you said Gazelle.
From where did you order it, by the way?

I purchased my Vaio TZ150 from Bestbuy.com, brand new.
