    Hi,

When I changed the Stamina-speed mode switch, I received this message "The performance cannot be changed because other applications are running.". But I don't know which programs to close in Task Manager. I try to restart my computer after the switch is changed. But I received same message. How can I solve this problem? Please help me? Thanks in advance.

    Regards.

Almost everything nowadays uses the GPU for something. On my Z1 I always have to close Chrome and Windows Live Messenger.

What's annoying about the SA/SB/SC speed/stamina switch, is it doens't tell you *what* applications are blocking the switch. Just that there are apps blocking the switch...

^I think that's because the sony software can tell that the driver is in use, but cannot tell what process is using it. I would HOPE if the software was able to determine what app was tying up the driver, it would be communicated to the end user. But who knows??

Sony isn't to blame here. ATi supplies the Hybrid Graphics driver part. nVidia's drivers on the Z1 always report what applications are blocking the transition. In general nVidia has much much better drivers than ATi has ever had.

I know the Dell switchable mode drivers do so, and iirc, the stock AMD setup does, too. I just have no clue why Sony's doesn't.

Can't you make the change without closing the applications on your Z1? You can on the Z13. No idea about the SB.

Z1 = Z11+Z12+Z13+Z14, and they're all the same. And yeah, you can force a switch. But if you switch with Messenger open it will crash, if you switch with Chrome open it'll give a lot of graphic errors. But you can force a switch just fine!

Maybe the way Sony has modded the intel part of the hybrid setup, that info is lost or not communicated to the ATI part of the driver. Jeremy, did you install Nautis' hacked intel graphics driver? Was it any better in terms of switching, etc?
