How do I disable the start up sound on my VGN-S460? I have XP by the way. When I wake it up after sleeping, or when I turn it on it makes an annoying sound that I want disabled. I've been into the control panel-> sounds and audio devices-> sounds tab, and changes the sound scheme to No Sounds (the other option is Windows Default, but I still get the start up sound. Help!

It can be disabled in the BIOS. I'm not sure if newer VAIOs have the Sony Notebook Setup in the control panel like older ones, where the setting would also appear.

Are you referring to VAIO Control Center, Mr. B? If I click on that, and Sounds-> Sounds and Audio Devices, I get the same window as if I just clicked on Sounds and Audio Devices straight from the Control Panel.

How do I access these settings from the BIOS?

    Thanks.
