Is there anyway to stop the Vaio sound from playing when you first turn on the notebook? What about the windows startup sound?

I want to eliminate all sounds made by the notebook in windows...would simply muting it stop the sounds from playing?

This is for classes, don't want it to be noisy.

    Thanks!

To mute the Vaio sound you need to do it in BIOS. There is an option there for the volume, as well as on/off.

To get rid of the start up sound, you need to go to control panel>sounds and audio devices>sound....and then you will see sound options for each action. Just choose "no sound" for everything if you want that. I don't think your notebook will stay muted once you power off. I could be wrong.

How do I access the BIOS?

    Press Del while booting?

I believe it's F10 at the Vaio logo screen at startup.

IIRC the F10 is for the hidden partition on the sony's.

The Bios should be the F2 button. After that just go and find the screen for the bootup and then just change the volume to 0.
