Anyone else purchase the Stick power supply for the SZ? I couldn't be more disappointed. I'm always looking to save a bit of space as I travel, and this small supply looked great in the photo with it's travel case and cord managment design.

Well, I received it and the thing is longer than the standard power supply and the way the cord is designed, you wind up with the power supply on your lap if you're in a hotel room using the notebook in bed.

If anyone is thinking of buying this, do yourself a favor and take a pass. And if anyone knows an alternative to the larger brick adapter that comes with the SZ, please let me know. I used to own a Vaio Z1 and it had a much slimmer profile.

$99.00 + shipping from SonyStyle.com. $75.00 + shipping and it's yours. I used it only once. Still in its original box.

That other adapter (non-Sony) listed here undervolts the SZ. Not a good thing.

Many of us use the Kensington 120W that is just fine. It's my primary adapter on the road. Do a search and you'll see a few threads on it.

Thanks. Any other options besides Kensington's 120W or is that (and the useless Stick) the only other recommended one?

Yeah, I got the same bulky STICK Adapter as well, I was like WTF when I got them and compare it to my original one. I was almost returning it to SONY, but then I need one extra to travel right away.

Anyone else here is using the Kensington power adapter for SZ please post up more info for us.

If this is a photo of the recommended Kensington 120W slim adapter, it looks like the brick is too close to the notebook and not the wall outlet:

I don't like having the weight/heat of the brick near my body. I like it on the floor. Is this a problem with the Kensington?

    Hey BJ,

Let me know which one you get and if you can share your experiences with me after you acquired that adapter will be great. I m looking to save a pound or two when I travel

Slightly off topic but the Tulaip Sony Outlet in WA has the original adapter for $19.95.

I pick up a spare so I don't have to lug it around going to my GF's house.

Any word on the Kensington? I have the SZ381p and wanna replace it with a much smaller AC adapter.

I'm sitting at a library now surronding with compaqs, macs, and tosibas - they ALL have substantialy SMALLER powerbricks than my 2700$ sony. ARG

    Stupid Sony...

That really is a strange picture of the Kensington(which I own) because the biggest complaint about it is that the cord from the wall socket to the brick is only about 6inches in length. This causes the brick to hang off of the socket in most cases. The cord from the notebook to the brick is plenty long.

The Kensington's great. Very versatile. Not lighter in weight but much thinner in design.

Here's a pic of the two power supplies if anyone interested.

    According to dynamism, the new "Stick AC" which measures only 1.3" x 1.5" x 8.1" (W x H x D) and weighs 0.63 lbs. Previous SZ adapters measured 2.5" x 1.2" x 5.5" and weighed 0.92 lbs (see image).

    You save 0.3 pounds.

Sure it is smaller, but it's a 16V adapter an not 19V like AC19V21. Therefore it's so tiny.

First ebay seller provides no specifications, so it is difficult to compare.
    The second ebay adapter is 5.25 X 2.25 X 1.17in, the genuine Sony VGP-AC19V10 5.5 in x 2.4 in x 1.2 in. It is not a big deal.
