This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Strange and sudden issue with the ASSIST and VAIO keys

    While the ASSIST key is not configurable, I had been using the customised hotkey app and switched the default EXEs for those buttons for replacements which I used for prev/next track. This has worked fine for a long time. However, all of a sudden they have stopped working. Nothing has even changed.

    I went into Vaio Control Center to try different configurations for the VAIO key. If I set it to anything from the dropdown that involves opening an EXE file (magnifier, launch application, control center, etc etc) nothing happens. The only action that seems to work is "Vaio help and support" which just opens up Windows help.

    So clearly the buttons are working, and the configuration is working, but it just seems as though the control center is refusing to actually perform any action involving opening an EXE file. I'm a little confused, as I haven't changed anything on the system except install some programs completely unrelated to this.

    Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
