    Hi everyone,

since 2 weeks I have a strange issue with the cooling fan of my vpcz11c5e: during times of heavy usage it sounded like it's touching sth in the inner of the case. It's a rasping sound and also appeared in idle, depending on the position of the notebook.
After several mails and a phone call, sony decided to pick it up via UPS and bring it to a repair center (here in germany).

I have no good feeling at all, giving my Z out of my hands but i hope, they can fix it. Tomorrow they will pick it up an return it in approximately 5 work days.

Has anybody made equal experiences with the cooling fan of his Z? Will the technicans handle it with care?

What are the odds that it will have less failures when they return it as when they picked it up? ;)

I think with an issue like that, it should be fairly easy for them to rectify - and as far as screwing machines back together properly as much as possible, I've had generally decent experiences with Sony EU.

I would suggest examining it carefully when you get it to make sure there are no issues, and if you spot any to complain as soon as possible regardless of how minor it might be, or even if it doesn't affect actual use of the machine. Where possible, with what I perceive to be potentially 'problem' machines I do take a dated photo of the externals. This can e.g. help you gauge any changes in panel fit & finish, and is something you can submit along with any grievances.

With a more obscure or a fundamental design issue with Sony - yer on your own. But in this case I doubt it.
