i have a SZ 23 and while it was on some blank screen saver i noticed two stuck pixels in the centre of the screen.
They are stuck light blue and shows up on black/grey/blue backgrounds but not visible on white/red backgrounds. Is there any technqiue that i can use to unstick them? And if it doesn't wrk will sony fix this for me?

sony probably has a minimum amount of bad pixels for them to fix it
-
what can i do to try to get em unstuck?

You can try something like this:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/Dead-Pixel-Tester.shtml
This includes a "pixel exerciser" which you can use to try and "unstick" dead pixels. In theory at least, some dead pixels can be unstuck by constantly "excercising" them (changing them) for an extended period of time.
I wouldn't count on it though; usually a stuck pixel is just going to be a stuck pixel. You might get lucky though. -

Learn to live with it. Those techniques do more harm than good and you could end up with several dead pixels instead of just one.
My SZ2 has one dead blue (all blue screen shows one black pixel) in the lower right corner. You can't notice em when your sitting in fron of the laptop at a normal distance. It's only visible when your very close and off centre directly in front of that pixel so I couldn't care less.
I understand that some right in the middle can be annoying (like always red or green ones) but you can hardly do anything else other than ignoring them. That's the reason why I test the LCDs before buying. I haven't noticed the one on mine until the foruth day, the ugly ones jump right at you.
But those tricks like massaging the LCD are not very good for the LCD, they could easily damage an entire area where you apply pressure. I did such a thing once on a Samsung LCD-TV that had a green pixel and ended up with an area of uneven backlight. The pressure damaged the backlight in that area so instead a green pixel I couldn't see from normal distance I ended up with a bright backlight spot which was always visible in dark scenes even from far away. I won't try such a thing again for sure. So either return the laptop for another one that's hopefully without those things or at least has less ugly ones or live with em. -
Stuck pixels on the middle of your screen is unacceptable. You should return it or have Sony take care of it. I would be really pissed off if I found my brand new laptop had even a single stuck pixel on the middle of the screen. That's just not acceptable and could distract you from your work... especially if you are into graphic designing.

Well it's not a case of warranty. You have to accept a certain number of stuck pixels (I think Sony says 5 is the max) before you've the right to demand a new screen no matter where they are. The location makes no difference. Most stores are willing to exchange em though in the first days. So don't wait too long if you want a replacement. You can't come after a month or so and demand a new one because of a single stuck pixel - that wont work.

I'm having another issue with the premium SZ... probably due to the backlight technologie used.
I have a white spot at the bottom of the screen. It's not the actual LCD. I think it's a stuck white LED used for the backlight...
you can barely see it unless you're displaying something light. -
Good point that there is an acceptable range of dead pixels, but dead pixels in the middle of the screen are often treated differently. Many manufacturers have a policy of 5-7 or more dead pixels anywhere, or any dead pixels in the visual center portion of the screen can warrant an exchange.
Gotta check with sony about that though. Acer was the last company I checked. -
well
the default sony vaio wallpaper killed my pixels
they are in the exact same shade of blue as the sony screen.
Funny enuff, they only show up on black/grey/blue backgorunds; for reds and greens they seem to be fine -

Nor really, the neighboring ones are just blending over the faulty one on a bright screen. You can barely see them on red or green but they are still stuck.

if you really want to find out whether/howmany dead or stuck pixels you have, try this site: http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html
be warned though that if you find a stuck/dead pixel that you didn't know you had, it'll probably bother you some. Er.. ignorance is bliss? -
Hi er12345,
I would do my best to see if I can get some help from Sony. If you posted here, it is obviously enough to distract you...
Legally though, the companies are you obligated to fix the problem for you if it doesn't come under their definition of pixel issues.
Does your computer come with a return policy? I would go down that path if I cannot resolve this issue and it's bugging me enough.
