Hi,
I have a problem with gaming on my Vaio Z11.
I adjust the graphics for the game to run smooth. BUT every ~5 seconds, the graphics are stuttering for ~1 second, afer that it runs absolutely smooth again.
This behavior is NOT related to further downgrading graphic-settings, it even persists with 1024x768 and low details. It is also NOT related to what happens within the game (e.g. there is no differene between being in the middle of an explosive fight or if you are standing still and looking at the sky above you in Battlefield).
I tried this with the original sony graphics drivers and also tested several custom made driver packages - doesn't help.
I tested this with Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Anno 1404, both have the same behavior.
This makes gaming useless.
Anybody has an idea what this could be?
Thanks!

Battlefield has a bug with our nvidia that you need to add "DxVersion=9" to the ini file.
Make sure your thermal strategy (in vaio control center) is not set to silent as well. Sounds like it is.... -
ahhh...perfect! Chancing the thermal strategy did the job. Battlefield BC2 runs smooth at maximum resolution and settings (but 1x AA) now.
Thanks a lot!!
I had it at silent mode. Can I leave it at balanced mode even for gaming or do I have it to be set to performance to get full power?
Is there any description out there for the three available modes? -
Balanced should be fine.
Silent won't allow the fans to spin up past low...so the cpu/gpu will throttle. Not sure what exactly the difference between balanced and high performance are.
Stuttering gaming on Vaio Z11, even with low graphics?
