In about 10 minutes you will be into Vista with your account set up and basic desktop features customized. Another 2-3 hours and you can fully customize your personal computer with all your applications and software, and remove all the bloatware.

Thats about 99% of the customization and the amount of time it took me for my FZ. Its a great laptop. Have fun with yours. :)

And don't forget MAKE THE RECOVERY DVD SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do this before you delete ANY "bloatware". Some folks here didn't and latter found that the thing they thought was bloatware was essentialware. With the Recovery DVD you may be able to recovery a single driver or application.

    Gary

P.S. If you have access to a retail Vista install or Vista upgrade consider doing a clean install. Instructions in my signature below. Removing the bloatware is only a "partial" solution.

Of course, recovery discs. How could I forget. Its very simple to make. This is my first laptop and I never knew about making recovery discs. I asked the Sony Style salesman while I was purchasing my FZ160 and he showed me how easy it is. There is a built in program which automatically does it for you. Just insert the DVD it asks for it. You will need 2 DVDs.

It's here, oh joy. I'm about to make the recovery dvds, but I'll keep you guys updated on my thoughts. I'm only on 1 gig of ram right now and Vista is acually running fairly well even with 81 prcess running. My extra gig of ram from Newegg should be in tomorrow so I'm sure that will boost performance. Once I get everything going I may snap some pics and do some benchmarking. I can't wait to see how much potential the 8400m GT has. I'm sure it will demolish CS: Source. :)
