    Hi All,

I am brand new to these forums, so hello and merry xmas to you all! :)

I am having major problems with my VGN-FZ21Z!

I got a virus (silly I know), and I decided to do a system restore to get rid of it, and also remove all the stupid programs that Sony (in their wisdom) put on as a new machine.

So I rebooted with the system recovery disc 1 of 3 in the drive which I created as soon as I got the machine, just in case anything like this happened!

All was going well, the complete system restore started working, it asked me then to put in disc 2 of 3, which I did, and it read it ok. Then after about 30 seconds it came up with an error message and stopped the whole process :(

Now when I boot my computer up, it goes straight into recovery and gives the option for a system restore, which then says "no restore points can be found", or to do a complete system restore, which then says "no operating system can be found"

I have decided to take the drastic measure of wiping my entire hard drive and starting again, as I was under the impression that if the process only restored 1/3 of the image, then the C: drive would need to be completely empty to be recognised by Windows for another go at the system restore.

Any help with this would be an added bonus, as I use this machine to do work over the xmas period, and I am panicking slightly now.

    Kind regards in advance

    Dave

I don't know if this would work but I used to have a similar problem until I removed Norton Internet Security.

I don't have Norton installed, and I can't even get into Windows, as the system restore had started formatting before it crashed :(
