Yes, the 791 is the only model with a premium carbon fiber lid. If you want to pay a little less try the 691, or 491. They have the weave, but older technology.
You could buy the lid separately, I assuming Sony does sell them individually. But unnless you know what you're doing I wouldn't suggest it.

Ok, i think i will go with the 780, 2400$ is too much for the looks only, i checked on P1 and it's upgradable to 7200 RPM harddisk with 140$. do you get your original harddisk back? is the price including exchage of the original??

No you only get one HD. The 780 is a customizable model so P1 actually builds it, so a stock HD is not included.

It is an upgrade which means that you will not be getting the old hard disk back. :)

REALLY?!?!? wow, has anyone actually "ungraded" their SZ for the wave pattern? If so, I would buy one and have the sony technicians to install it for me. :D

I don't know if Sony themselves would do it for you, but I'm sure a local computer repair shop would. It's worth asking how much a premium carbon fiber lid would be, I'm assuming in the $150-200 range.

I may be wrong, I think Sony parts sells the lid for about $250 (without shipping & taxes).
