I have just got my SZ381 P/X and one of the first thing I want to do is to create the recovery disc. Here's the instruction according to the pdf manual.
"The following types of media, CD or DVD, are supported to create the recovery discs necessary to perform some of the VAIO recovery options: CD-R, DVD-R and DVD+R. Double layer DVD media are not supported."
What? I thought SZ3xx is supposed to be able to record to a double layer media DVD. Is it a mistake on the manual? Has anyone attempted to create the recovery disc using a double layer media disc?

My guess is that yes, the unit does support double layer discs but not for making the recovery discs, which only requires two anyway. It probably has something to do with the amount of info on each disc (the second one has very little data on it) and how it uses those discs in the recovery process.

I think you're right Foto.
My Vaio FE 790 says the same thing. But I know a friend who burned a DL DVD on her SZ just fine. I have not tried to burn a double layer DVD yet as I don't really have a need to do so. -
you can burn DL on the SZ.

Not to add to the confusion here but when I tried to use a DL disk to create my recovery discs it didn't work. I have an SZ260P. I tried over and over to insert DL discs but ultimately, used DVD+R discs in the end.
Sz3xx Recovery Disc does not support Double Layer DVD?
