I was at the sony store the other day and was configuring some fz models, It turns out that I could have a fz configured with a t7250 and blueray for the same price as just the T9300. I don't have a blueray player and would like to start watching hidef movies but on the other hand, would the T9300 be noticably faster at say, photoshop?

Speed wise T7250 and T9300 won't be much different in photoshop.

However the T9300 runs at 2.5 GHz and has 6 MB cache compared to the T7250 which I think runs at 2.0 GHz and has 4 MB cache. If you can afford it, get the T9300.

Yeah, I was thinking that there wouldn't be much. I was also considering the T9300 because it would run cooler and give me a little more battery life. other than that it seems like it is expensive for those few mb cache.

the T7250 has 2 mb of L2C, but it is not at all slow actually much better value than the T9300 , which will be soon outdated with these montevina Penryns coming.

if you wanna current Penryn , then get T8xxx , much cheaper and almost as fast as the hugely over priced T9xxx.

it does run a bit cooler maybe but it wont be noticeable, and I do not feel it runs much faster than my old Pentium M or core duo based laptops since Vista is heavier than XP was..

so as a whole , the Penryn on Santa Rosa chipset is not much better than old Merom on current Santa Rosa chipset.

But Montevina Penyn will be worth it since it comes with the new chipset that supports the DDR3 and FSB1066.

I'll probably stick with the T8300 series and get a standalone blueray. Sony wants $400 for the blueray drive. Ouch!

Chances are your GPU (graphics processor) will make your laptop out of date before your processor will. Consider that.
